Consultation\Oral examination

The oral examination is the first step that gives patients the opportunity to express their concerns about tooth/teeth replacement. Patients are assessed through the appropriate examination to determine what services are required prior to developing a treatment plan. If you have a dental insurance, either private or government plan, please ask our knowledgable staff to assist you in determining what specific denture services are covered under your plan. In case you do not have any type of coverage, please do not hesitate to discuss with us your payment options in order for us to be able to help you obtain the most suitable denture service that best fits your time and budget.

Recall Visit

With time, oral tissue shrinkage and bone resorption start to appear beneath the dental appliances. Dental appliances may no longer fit like they once did. A recall appointment is needed in order to:

  • Update your dental and medical history
  • Provide you with an intraoral examination and make the appropriate referral whenever necessary and required
  • Check the integrity of your denture in regards to cracks, chips, scratches, and worn or loose teeth
  • Check the aesthetics, stability and the bite
  • Discuss options available to you based on your individual needs
  • Review oral hygiene procedures and denture care
  • Offer you a cleaning and polishing of your dentures if required

If you are a patient to whom we’ve made a denture appliance and we haven’t heard from you for the last 12 months, it is time to get in touch with our office to book a recall visit exclusively for you.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are for individuals who are missing only one or some of their teeth. There are different types of partial dentures. After an oral examination with our Denturist, both the patient and the denturist will develop an agreed upon treatment plan that best suits the individual’s needs and preferences. It is important to know that Removable Partial dentures do not harm remaining natural teeth. A partial denture may prevent your natural teeth from shifting or drifting into the space left by the loss of a natural tooth. In fact, a partial denture may help maintain the position of your natural teeth by providing them with additional support. There is no need to avoid going out or feeling uncomfortable to meet people because you have one or more teeth missing. With a partial denture, you’ll look better, feel better and chew better! All these can happen with an affordable solution that best fits your budget. Consult us to discover how the replacement of your missing tooth or some of your teeth can change your life and enhance your smile.

Immediate Dentures

There are situations when patients need to extract many teeth at once.  To shorten the time of being without teeth for a certain period of time, our Denturist will implement the immediate denture technique by taking impressions of your mouth while your natural teeth are still present, fabricate a denture in the likeness of your natural teeth and insert them after your teeth are extracted so that you do not have to go without any teeth while you go through the healing process. However, you should be aware that since the Denturist is unable to try-in the denture prior to extracting your teeth, certain aesthetic and fitting compromises may be necessary. It is important to follow the postoperative instructions of our Denturist and Oral Surgeon very carefully. As the healing process is complete, either a new permanent full denture(s) will be made or your denture(s) will be relined or rebased to ensure the most comfortable fit possible. Our Denturist will recommend the option that best meets your particular needs.

Implants Retained Dentures

Implants retained Dentures are more reliable when it comes to fitting and functioning in comparison to traditional methods of dentures. As the cost of implants has become relatively more affordable than it used to be, a successful candidate for this type of dentures is highly recommended to seek this option.

Relines

It is evident that changes occur in the mouth after a period of time due to shrinkage of the bone, etc, consequently, your dentures will no longer fit as they used to be. To avoid this discomfort and make sure your dentures fit properly all over again, you ask us for a reline procedure at least once every two years. The reline procedure is designed to improve the fitting of the denture while the appearance remains the same. With our modern lab on the promises, our regular patients have the advantage of having their dentures relined the same day whenever needed and required.

Repairs

Repairs may be required when breakage or chipping occurs, when one or more teeth need to be added to an existing denture (due to tooth extraction), or because of wear and tear. With our modern lab on the promises, our regular patients have the advantage of having their prosthesis most of the time repaired the same day whenever needed and required as far as the denture can still be restored. However, in some cases, it may be symptomatic of underlying problems, such as, age of the denture, worn teeth, or poor fit. Our Denturist is the professional who can best explain and suggest to you what best solution would be in such case.

Mouth Guards

It is highly recommended for those who participate in sports with a risk of injury to wear a mouth guard that can reduce the risk of broken teeth while taking part in their desired sport. At Bay Denture Clinic, we design and fabricate custom-fitted mouth guards for intense sports participants.  Our denturist will take the impression of your upper jaw, which makes the mouth guard fit and sit perfectly. This procedure can be completed in the same day.
